There once was an art gallery in the empty store front that we are standing in front of. It was only last summer we went in and looked at the artwork and talked with the owner who was a nice lady and was trying to bring more high priced abstract artwork to the little town. She had some small sugar cookies on a white plate and I had one and it was good and we made small talk about art and the weather and business and I never did mention that I was a painter and lived right around the corner, although I did mention that the cookies where very good and the weather was perfect and that the business well...was more of an art than the art is a business and I remember walking out thinking that I hoped that she could make it in this little town and somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it would be tough but who was I too say. Well, here is to her and the sugar cookies and the empty store front and everything that happened between then and now...Enjoy!

I was in a car accident this week. It was one of those that everyone walks from. I have heard many people say that at the moment of impact that your life flashes before your eyes. This didn't happen to me. It was more like the inside surface of the car flashing on the outside of my head. It all happens so quickly. You blink and it is over. Instead of “flashing,” I really think that is in those hours afterward that your life strolls slowly by your eyes and you think about it all, the past, the present, the future, those people in your life and out. You think how lucky you are to see your breath in the cold air while waiting for the police to arrive. You think how the pain in your neck is really nothing compared to what could have been. You think that there is nothing wrong with hitting redial on your cell phone 11 times because hearing her voice is about the only thing that matters. It is these moments that you slow and think about it all and are thankful that all of this that we do is still a possibility...Enjoy!

Well, this is it for the The Japanese Series Ninjas. The first one in the series but the last one to go. Not sure where the ninja series will go next but I'm sure it will arise somewhere else. So, what does the ninja have to do with art. Well, I have said many times over the years that to many people take thier artwork way too seriously. That is not to say that artwork does not have an important role in our lives or in our day to day meandering but when it comes down to it I just remind myself that there is a reason why the brain surgeon gets paid the big bucks. Enter the Ninja. Every art collection, no matter how serious, needs one. Shoot the more serious your collection, the more ninja paintings you should probably have. Sitting there in your art collection, just waiting for the moment, the ninja will strike. Be careful. Respect the ninja and respect is what you will be given in return... it is the ninja way...Enjoy you art!

It was quiet at the house tonight. They were both gone and I put on Pandora and streamed music while sitting over the paints and daydreaming about everything that is going on in the days and nights and minutes in between all the things that mean something. The music was quiet enough that I could hear the heater kick on and off and on and off and the sleeve of my shirt got dipped in the paint again and it always happens and you would think that I would learn by now after all these years but I haven't. I haven't learned alot of things, I suppose. As I put down the big patch of green on this picture I hear the car pull in and the dog barks and he runs to the window and wags his tail and one of the ladies is home and the house will soon not be so quiet but if there is one thing that I have learned, it is that when the door opens and she walks in everything will be perfectly alright... It has been a while since I have painted a portrait of her. As I sit and look at this one, I should say that it probably isn't very flattering of her but then again none of these paintings are ever very flattering are they? I guess that isn't what these portraits are ever about. They never have. It's more about that she is upstairs doing her thing and I'm down here doing my thing and I can hear music up there and her feet walking around on the floor and papers rustling and I should really cut this story short so I can get up there and join in on whatever is going on because when it comes down to it is really is less about the painting and more about the person. About once a week I get an email that has subject material suggestions for future paintings. All different kinds of things. Sometimes very specific things and other times very vague things. I add them all to this big list that I keep in a notebook near to my desk. It reads a bit like those Beat writings where they would write something then cut it up and then reassemble it. One of these days I'll publish the list for kicks or maybe that will be my very last work before I finally leave this place. Anyway, looking over the list for inspiration, I decided to chose four words and see what comes from it. So, I decided on the words, "pink", "flowers", "blue"and "hangover" and this is what came of it. (I don't know why but "blue" is one of my favorite words.) So, with that said, if there are any words that you want to add to the list be sure to shoot me an email and I'll add it. It will eventually make it's way into some works of art and who knows maybe 60 years from now it will be part of my last piece of art. (I already know what the last entry is going to be but you will have to wait). With that... Enjoy!

Quick story. Last night I get done working and turn the light off at the desk, turn to my right and switch off the computer monitor and the room goes completely black. Staying up late like I often do, I'm used to walking around in the dark like this, so from memory, I walk myself around the desk and out the door. Except I had not taken into consideration that the dog had pushed the door open half way and I walked smack into the edge of the open door. Ouch! would be an understatement. Sorry, I don't have an anecdote to this story or anything witty to go on about. It just plain hurt. So, here is to walking cautiously around in the dark and hopefully, not walking into anything. The first card in the series is finally here! This is the first card in the series of postcards produced by the German company, United Ambient Media. Over the next 6 months they will producing a "collectors" series of Keemo postcards that will be distributed through their 7,500 locations around Germany and in conjunction with the German postal service (The Deutsche Post). I just picked one up off my desk and they are done very professionally on great card stock and the printing is superb. They really did a good job on these. If you scroll down you will see what the back side looks like. These look great in a frame or flying through our postal system on thier way to your friends and family. So, grab 1 for you and and some others for your friends and family. Lastly, each card will come signed on the back. Well, I guess that is about all I have to say about these little fellas...Enjoy!
