I have been watching a lot of old movies recently. Films from the 30's, 40's, 50's and I guess I'll even thrown those from the 60's in there as well. (well, at least the early 60's). When I watch these old films I have a completely different experience than watching, say, a film like Inception (or insert any modern blockbuster here). There is something more honest in the old films. I don't mean that they are any more truthful as much as it feels like there isn't as much distance between you and the actors. There are not layers of digital audio blown at you and even more layers of software that modified what you are looking at. For example, Dracula (1931) doesn't really have any soundtrack to speak of, which leads to long moments of silence. Anyway, I don't know what I am really driving at other than, I love the movies and I love the old movies and here is a small homage to the old movies. Now go and rent one and see what all the new movies are missing! ... Enjoy!

Sometimes you just have to paint because it is what you want to do. It doesn't have to be about anything in particular. It can just for the sake of painting and listening to music while you have some time when everyone else is out and there is rain coming down outside the open window behind you and you think a white figure with catlike ears is just the thing simply because when you paint there aren't any rules and the white figure with catlike ears is what seems right at the moment and you go with it and this is what you end up with.... When Overlooking A Small Detail Results In A Sore Nose

Quick story. Last night I get done working and turn the light off at the desk, turn to my right and switch off the computer monitor and the room goes completely black. Staying up late like I often do, I'm used to walking around in the dark like this, so from memory, I walk myself around the desk and out the door. Except I had not taken into consideration that the dog had pushed the door open half way and I walked smack into the edge of the open door. Ouch! would be an understatement. Sorry, I don't have an anecdote to this story or anything witty to go on about. It just plain hurt. So, here is to walking cautiously around in the dark and hopefully, not walking into anything. (We've all done it!)... Enjoy!
