Daily Keemo. 9.14. Portrait Of The Devil In The City

Portrait Of The Devil In The City

The next painting from the devil series. This particular painting has actually been hanging around the house for a while because, well to be honest, I wanted to look at it longer. It is one of the first from The Devil Series and is one of my favorites. Anyway, it is time to let this one go. Those of you who have followed my work for a long time, know that I don't like to keep my own artwork around the house for too long. (It makes it harder to move forward as a painter if you cling to what you have done in the past. Not to mention, I would much rather have my walls filled with other artists. That is for another story though). Well, I guess that it is it for this one, the rest of the story is up to you.

... Enjoy!

Daily Keemo. 7.20. That Is Where It Will End

That Is Where It Will End

It's late and
the desklamp is lighting up
this corner of the hotel room and
I can only see the cars that are heading East
on the Detroit highway
that is visible
from my window.

It is obvious that the black is
still wet and behind me one
of the girls shifts in the bed and
I know that their dreaming is more
important that the sound of these keys
so
that is where it will end.

Somewhere between two girls and a
highway and the late night sound of
this keyboard.

Daily Keemo. 4.17. Bright And Gold And Huge And

Bright And Gold And Huge And

We were having a drink
at a table out near the sidewalk
in a city I had never been to and
over the sound of the street
she told me about a place I
have never been to and
a person that I have never met and
I daydreamed about going there
as she talked and
behind her the sun was bright and
gold and huge and
the waitress brought another round and
sitting here now in this dark room
I would give anything for a drink on
a sidewalk in a city I have never
been to.

Daily Keemo. 12.12. It Is Only A Matter Of Time Before The Cold Wind Blows Again

It Is Only A Matter Of Time Before The Cold Wind Blows Again

We were in the city. It was Friday and it was cloudy and it was cold and the buildings stood up around us like trees without leaves. When we turned down some streets the wind blew down on us and we pulled each other close and I was glad the doctor gave me that medicine for the pain in my back so I could do this all without agony as she put her arm tightly around me. That is the only to walk in the city. Your arms wrapped around someone and all the other stuff is wrapped up in that embrace as well, but you don't talk about that stuff but you both know it's in there. You then turn another corner and the wind is not as strong and you loosen your embrace a bit but not quite all the way, because you really don't want to and you know it is only a matter of time before the cold wind blows again... Enjoy!

Daily Keemo. 9.23. Throw Open The Curtains And Let The World In

Throw Open The Curtains And Let The World In

I think it was about four years ago that we went to that city. I keep thinking that we need to make time to get back there. I suppose it is just about travel in general. You know, throwing your bag in the car and heading out leaving a locked up house behind you along with all the crap that goes with it like the alarm clock and the punch clock and the more miles you get between you and there and the less miles you get between you and here the world begins to shape up into something other than you are used to and you begin to see new things from new perspectives and new people and new everything and it is in that moment that you reach over and hold that familiar hand and look into those familiar eyes and you can briefly imagine never going back and running away, just the two of you and just leave that other stuff and run off into a world that is all new and everything seems possible and even if it for just a few days you keep remembering that everything is and it always will be as long as you let it...Enjoy!

by Keemo. 5.8. Scenes From A Balcony #1.

Scenes From A Balcony #1

Click

I was sent a picture of an unknown person standing on an unknown balcony with an unknown city behind him. The railing that kept him from falling many floors down was not visible in the photo so it looked like he was floating in front the buildings, like a superhero only not very much super and not very much here. All rather normal I may say. There was no return address on the envelope and I didn't recognize the handwriting. I do not know the man in the photo. I still am not sure if all this stuff has any importance at all on anything other than it was another strange thing that arrived in my mailbox. Either way, if this isn't reason for a painting than I don't know what is. With that, next time you are on a balcony with the world out behind your back, take a picture and send it over, I'll make Scenes From A Balcony #2... Enjoy!

Daily Keemo. 4.9. Still A Possiblity. #1

Still A Possiblity. #1

I was in a car accident this week. It was one of those that everyone walks from. I have heard many people say that at the moment of impact that your life flashes before your eyes. This didn't happen to me. It was more like the inside surface of the car flashing on the outside of my head. It all happens so quickly. You blink and it is over. Instead of “flashing,” I really think that is in those hours afterward that your life strolls slowly by your eyes and you think about it all, the past, the present, the future, those people in your life and out. You think how lucky you are to see your breath in the cold air while waiting for the police to arrive. You think how the pain in your neck is really nothing compared to what could have been. You think that there is nothing wrong with hitting redial on your cell phone 11 times because hearing her voice is about the only thing that matters. It is these moments that you slow and think about it all and are thankful that all of this that we do is still a possibility...Enjoy!
