God Hates Seven Things
(Click Picture)

This is the 9th in the "Book of Facts" series. (I was going through a bunch of books that were stored away in boxes. I ran across this old book of facts. It is just page after page of wierd facts. After about 2 pages, I thought, "this is perfect!") On this page there was just one that jumped out at me as being particular unbelievable: God Hates Seven Things. Am I the only one that finds this a little out of place in a book of facts? I guess it doesn't really matter because it is without a doubt, the best one that I stumbled across and worthy of a painting all its own. As a side note and just to be sure, I did look up Proverbs 6:16-19 and was quite relieved to find that I was not on Gods list of the seven things he hates. Whew! ... Enjoy!

Portrait of King Anthony
(or) one part bob vila, one part jackson pollack and two parts all around good guy.
(Click Picture)

If you ever get to Studio 216 in Granbury TX, I highly suggest that you look at the floors. (Don't forget the paintings of course) If no one is looking, maybe even lay down on the floor to get a closer look. Don't forget the bathroom. Proceed to the mens room and check the floor out there too. Good Stuff. While you are there, also look at the black and white tables. After that proceed to the nearest person and ask for Anthony. After being introduced to him, proceed to shake his hand and say, "It is a pleasure to meet you. I have been admiring your work." At this point, I am guessing he will probably kindly refer to you as "Sir or Mam". (I asked him to stop calling me "sir" but he said his mother would not be happy if he did.) I'm not sure exactly where I am going with this story, other than it just seems right to do a portrait of such a good guy. In the end, I guess that just seems like that is enough in itself. So, here is to you Anthony! Thanks....Enjoy!

Pardon The Mess. This Past Week Has Caused My Brain To Spill Out.
(Click Picture)

Please pardon the mess. The events of the past couple of weeks has caused my brain to spill out. Top off a crazy travel/work schedule with a call from padre reminding me it was 5 and half years ago he decided to switch to a new family. That in itself is not a big deal though. That stopped bugging me a few years back. (The psych degree comes in handy for those kinds of things.) So, here is to tonight. It is quiet and there is some Thelonius coming out of my computer speakers. In my glass is water. I listen a bit and wish I could play like him. Please pardon the mess. This past week has caused my brain to spill out...Enjoy!

The Things We Abandon When It Doesn't Stop The Crying.
(Click Picture)

I sat in my seat on the plane drawing most of the way home. There was a mother with a small baby in the seat in front of me. The baby was not particularly excited about being stuck on the plane. (like most of us, I suppose) I turned my headphones up to drown out the crying and worked away on some pictures. I sat back and was thinking about what to draw next when I saw the baby's pink, stuffed bunny wedged between the two seats in front of me. The mother must have abandoned it as a method of getting the baby to stop crying. Well, you know the saying; one crying babys loss is another painters gain. So, here is to all the things that we abandon when it doesn't stop the crying...Enjoy!

I Went To Florida And All I Got Were These Two Drawings.
(That isnt exactly true but it makes for a good title)
(Click Picture)

I just got back a few hours ago. (I think I swore out loud as I got off the plane and felt the rush of cold air hit me in the face. The funny thing is I wasn't the only one.) As we descended from the clouds, I could hear many others on the plane curse as they looked out their window at the white earth below. I leaned over the little fold-down tray on the seat in front of me and finished these two drawings before the plane landed. "Sir, can you please put your things away?" the flight attendant asked. "Yep." I stuck my pens, papers and these 2 drawings into the backpack at my feet and looked out my window. You know... as much as I gripe about living here in Michigan, I sure love coming home. So, here is to travelling and meeting new people and also here is to coming home and seeing those you left.... Enjoy!

Keemo Show Open 2/16 at Studio 216

Studio 216 Opens. 16" x 20" x 1.5"

(or) "There will be wine and cheese, but there will also be a keg of Shiner and a tub of ribs.
(that's how we roll down here)" - Steve
(Click Picture)

This is less of a story about this painting and more of a story about this auction and what surrounds it. It goes a little like this: On Feb 16, 2008, the art gallery Studio 216 officially opens in Granbury TX. As the owner Steve puts it, "It'll be chock Full-o-Keemo!" I have the great honor to be the first artist to show at Studio 216. (Through the middle of March) So, what does all that have to do with this painting? Well, Steve, being the smart fella he is, thought it would be a great idea to have a painting at the gallery that people will be able to bid on. So, right next to this painting, at the gallery, will be a laptop that is open to this auction. If a visitor would like to the own this painting, well, they will have to place a bid, just like you. The opening reception will be from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00. The ending of this auction will be around closing time, 9:00 PM. This way all the attendees can monitor the progress of the auction through out the day. With that, here is to Steve and Kathy and Studio 216!... Enjoy! (Oh yeah, and to all hooligans from Granbury that sent pictures and notes convincing me to come down there! It worked.)

Keemo / Jeff Zenick Collaboration #4.
(Click Picture)

There once was a man named Jeff Zenick. Jeff creates great illustrations down in Tallahassee, Florida. Jeff also creates wonderful zines of his travels that are full of stories and illustrations of the people he meets and the places he sees. He also creates great illustrations from old year books. There was another man, named Keemo. Keemo paints pictures up in Grand Rapids, MI where he is known to complain way too much about the snow and cold. "This stinks!" he might say. The two enjoyed each others work and seem to get along just dandy. "Why don't we work on something together?" asked one, to the other. "That would be just swell!", was the reply... The rest was, well... this!... Enjoy!

4 Sided Free Standing
Wooden Sculpture With 4 Figures.

1.25" x 1.25" x 11"

(Click
Picture)

This particular piece has actually been sitting in the center of our kitchen table for the last year or so. It was a good spot because no matter which seat you were in you had something to look at. There were times when it got moved to different parts of the house but it always found its way back to the kitchen table. Well, I figure I have held on to it long enough and its time to let it go... If not my table, then where?... Enjoy!

In Front Of The Mirror With Black Eyes. 7.25" x 10"
(Click Picture)

We were in the bathroom this morning. I walked around her to get to the sink and a toothbrush. "My eyes have dark circles under them." She said moving her face closer to the mirror. I looked. They were a little dark, you had to look just right to see it. I put the toothpaste on and started brushing. I looked into the mirror, my eyes looked dark too. I wasnt surprised, we were up late last and I was the one who did all the drinking. I looked at both of our reflections, in front of the mirror with dark circles under our eyes and thought everything was just how it should be. She left the room. I finished brushing and spit into the sink and followed her out into the day.... Enjoy!

Three more figures on Color Forecast cards from Sherman Williams, 2005. Just like the others, these three have classic paint color names like "Fountain" (blue), "Pink Shadow" (pink) and "Marquis Orange" (orange). I would like to see more color names like "Water Buffalo", "Crispy Bacon" and "Tinge Of Weasle". Where is the fun in "Pink Shadow"? Well, thats it for now on these... as always...Enjoy!

Portrait of On Paris Postcard #5. 4.75" x 6.5"
(Click Picture)

This is the 5th in the "Paris Postcard" series. I was looking over my bookshelf a bunch of papers shoved between a couple books. Among other things there were about 15 postcards that were of different photos taken in Paris during the 1920's. This one in particular is called "Bookstalls Beside The Seine". All the postcards are very Paris and you can hear an accordian playing and it all makes the Michigan winter seem all that much colder. With that.. Enjoy!
