Today,
I am tired and
every
path I crossed today was
full of conflict and
I am fairly certain it may have been
me.

Today,
there are no portraits of people
only
of the cat that wanders the sidewalk
out in front of my house
and
as I watch it walk alone
and slow and
deliberate and
lazy and
disconnected,
I can't help but think
that it may just be
me.

Sometimes you just have to paint because it is what you want to do. It doesn't have to be about anything in particular. It can just for the sake of painting and listening to music while you have some time when everyone else is out and there is rain coming down outside the open window behind you and you think a white figure with catlike ears is just the thing simply because when you paint there aren't any rules and the white figure with catlike ears is what seems right at the moment and you go with it and this is what you end up with.... To be honest, I guess I am just not in a people mood tonight. I don't know exactly why. I feel like it has been a day wasted in negativity from almost everyone I ran into. (minus a couple.) I suppose, if I was to learn anything from my psych degree I should assume that the root of the issue is likely to have more to do with myself and less to do with everyone else. So, to keep it simple, I thought it best to paint some kind of animal tonight. (even though it still more human looking, wouldn't you say) I'll try again tomorrow after a good nights sleep and for now it is just this animal and I'll put the world on pause and try again in the morning... Enjoy!

I was recently commissioned to do a small series of "animal like" paintings / drawings for someone. (Hi R.!) They were going to go in the kids room with the toys and games and clothes and dirty socks and books and all the other good stuff that you find in a kids room. I never ever imagined that a Keemo would be in admist all that stuff. I have to tell you that I am very honered to be there. So anyway, I really enjoyed doing them so I thought I would do another just for kicks. I suppose this one could be a cat or a rabbit but then again it has lips like a human and to be honest with I suppose it doesn't matter what it is. If the kids can imagine what it is then it is just fine by me...Enjoy!
